Vantof pleased Liberals want to drop PST on hydro bills

Timiskaming-Cochrane MPP John Vanthof is okay that the Liberals have taken a page from the New Democrats over high energy rates.   For years the NDP have lobbied to remove the PST portion from hydro bills and the Liberals finally did that in Monday’s Throne Speech.  Vanthof says Ontarians have complained about expensive electricity for years but Premier Kathleen Wynne ignored those concerns.

The New Democrat says it took losing a Toronto-area for the Liberals to finally wake up on the issue.   However, there’s no indication how the Liberals would make up the revenue shortfall if they give hydro rebates to residents and businesses.
