The Caisse Populaire in Verner has helped two West Nipissing families hit with recent tragedies. By combining a fundraising drive with other Caisse outlets in the area, the Verner site gave the Seguin family of Lavigne a cheque for nearly $110,000. The family’s three children were hit by a pick-up truck in February in North Bay and were rushed to Ottawa. Meanwhile the Caisse also gave a $31,000 cheque to the Paul Beaudry family of Verner who lost all their cattle in a barn fire. The 60 plus cows were their livelihood and insurance didn’t cover the entire loss.
