Charges laid in financial irregularities case involving Municipality of West Nipissing

Charges have been laid after reports surfaced about alleged financial irregularities involving the Municipality of West Nipissing.  In January, the West Nipissing police asked the OPP to investigate the dealings of the municipality and a third-party contractor.  Now after an eight month investigation, the OPP’s anti-rackets branch has charged three West Nipissing men with a slew of offenses.

All three face two counts each of fraud over $5,000.  The trio are also charged with uttering forged documents, fraud on government and conspiracy to commit an indictable offense.  Also, two of the men are looking at a charge of breach of trust.  The men are in their early and late 40s and appear in court October 6th in Sturgeon Falls.
