It’s guilty and $3,600 in fines for two hunters from Powassan after an illegal deer kill. Last December, a hunter killed a deer and tagged it with a friend’s deer seal to make it look like the friend made the kill. However, passing off deer seals to others is illegal and Conservation Officers discovered the deception.
The men were found guilty in connection with the exchange and possession of the dear seal and also possessing an illegally killed deer. The judge hit them with fines of $1,800 apiece and also handed them one-year hunting suspensions.
