There have been two water-related deaths in different parts of Northeastern Ontario. On Saturday just outside Sault Ste. Marie, a man somehow ended up in the Goulais River. The 61-year-old was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead. And a 20-year-old Southern Ontario man died Friday after he and his friends fell from their canoe into Long Lake in Sudbury Thursday night.
The friends swam to shore while a homeowner saw the third man face down in the water and pulled him to shore. The man was admitted to hospital in critical condition Thursday night but he died the next afternoon. Police say none of the men wore life jackets.
