Fire relief fund hits $10,000

A relief fund to help fire victims in a Sturgeon Falls fire nearly two weeks ago has hit $10,000.   More than half the amount is going to help residents from 10 apartment units pay for their first and last month rents as they find new homes.  The money is also being converted into gift cards for necessary things like food and gas.

The recent Rock ‘n Ribs Fest in Sturgeon Falls brought in $4,000 for the displaced families.   That includes $900 from face-painter Josee Ethier Aubin who donated what she made at the festival to the relief fund.    A $500 donation came from Arctica.    Other contributors are Denmar Building, Optimum Home Comfort and employees from the Caisse Populaire.

Donations are still being accepted at all Caisse Populaire branches as well as online at www.GoFundMe.com
