An Ontario Court of Appeal has found Rob Szalas in contempt. The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit revealed on Friday that the Ontario Court of Appeal has reversed the decision made by Justice Rivard and found Szalas in contempt of court for failing to surrender his dog, Dunaj. The Court of Appeal ruled that Justice Rivard erred at law in his decision and has also ordered Szalas to pay $1,500 to the Health Unit for the costs of the appeal. There will be a Superior Court hearing in North Bay at a future date where the court will determine his penalty. In order to protect the public, the initial order to have Dunaj euthanized remains in effect.
