Heat warning in effect for the North Bay area and Parry Sound District

A heat warning has been issued for the North Bay area and Parry Sound District.  Due to the hot and humid weather predicted for the remainder of this week, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a heat warning this morning.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says heat warnings are issued when two consecutive days are forecasted to have a daytime high temperature greater or equal to 29 degrees Celsius and nighttime temperatures greater or equal to 18, or a humidex greater than 36 degrees.

Everyone is encouraged to drink plenty of liquids, especially water, before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration and to frequently visit neighbours, friends and older family members, especially those who are chronically ill, to make sure that they are cool and hydrated.  Also, never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.
