A committee has been created to oversee the Fire Victims Relief account at the Sturgeon Falls Caisse Populaire. With donations reaching close to $5000, the committee has met to expedite those funds to affected tenants, many of whom didn’t have insurance and could really benefit from those donations as soon as possible. Close to $4000 was donated at last weekend’s Rock ‘n Ribs Fest, and Arctica Heating and Cooling has donated $500 and is challenging other local businesses to match, exceed or donate what they can to this effort as well. Special fundraisers are being organized including an afternoon performance by Gilles Coutu on Sunday from 1:00pm-6:00pm outside under a big tent at Odeon Bingo with all money raised going to the victims.
