Residents hear about climate change

Climate research from Stantec Consulting shows the region went into a new climactic period around 1998.  Peter Bullock, a senior planner with Stantec, said that during the annual general meeting of the Greater Nipissing Stewardship Council.  Bullock says climate change will affect groundwater storage and increase the area’s vulnerability to natural hazards.  He says climate change has increased winter run-off and that run-off is more erratic and extreme.  As for the extreme winter we just had, Bullock says it could be a fluke or a sign that something has shifted on a global scale.
