No jail time for North Bay man guilty of motorcycle deaths

A North Bay man who caused the death of a motorcycle couple two years ago won’t get any jail time.  Instead, John Hemingway was fined $2,000 and also got a three month driving suspension.  Hemingway fell asleep at the wheel in June 2014 and crashed into a motorcycle by Markstay-Warren killing a Sudbury man and woman on the bike.

He was charged with careless driving.  The judge said she wasn’t sending Hemingway to jail, because that’s reserved for the worst offenders.   Family members of the dead couple say Hemingway only got a slap on the wrist and were expecting some sort of jail time.
