The rain a couple of nights back has helped to partially lift the fire bans in several area communities. They are Callander, Sundridge, Burks Falls, Kearney, Nipissing and Laurier Township. The partial ban means small, contained fires are allowed for cooking and warmth.
However the complete ban is still in force in the South River area, Phelps Township, Restoule, Magnetawan, and McMurrich Monteith. The ban is over for all other communities in the area including North Bay, West Nipissing and Mattawa.
