The Sudbury-based group Ontario Rivers Alliance has been awarded appearance rights at the upcoming Energy East Pipeline hearings. ORA will make the case for why western oil should not be transported to Eastern Canada through a pipeline. Its chair, Linda Heron, says Energy East uses insufficient technology to detect very small leaks. That means the leak could go on for days until it’s discovered and Heron says it’s usually a member of the public that finds the discharge.
