Men convicted of illegal moose hunting

Four men have been fined a total of $3,000 dollars for illegal hunting moose west of New Liskeard.  Three of the men are from the New Liskeard area and the other is an Ottawa resident.   Conservation officers say the party had a bull moose in their possession but no hunting tag.

The group claimed a First Nation man with their party shot the moose under his Aboriginal right to hunt.  The Ministry of Natural Resources found this wasn’t the case.  The court agreed, and handed down the guilty verdicts plus the fines.
