North Bay submits bid to host world curling championship

North Bay has officially submitted a bid to host the Ford World Women’s Curling championship for 2018.   Curling Canada will render a decision by the end of August.  Co-chair of the organizing committee, Rick Miller, is optimistic the city will be awarded the international event.

If it does, city councillor Mark King says the world championship will generate $6 to $8 million in economic activity for North Bay.  All the games would be played at Memorial Gardens while the Granite Club would serve as the entertainment hub for players and the public.
