Annual testing begins for West Nile virus

The Sudbury and District Health Unit is trapping mosquitoes again over the summer, looking for signs of West Nile virus.  The trappings will take place in the Espanola, Manitoulin and Sudbury region.  Mosquitoes get the virus from feeding on infected birds and then pass it onto people when they bite us.  West Nile, which causes things like nausea and vomiting, has shown up in the Sudbury coverage area in the past.  In serious cases, it can produce severe headaches and a high fever among people.
