Over a dozen communities in the region have been placed under a fire ban.
The ban went into effect on Tuesday and we’re told it will continue until there is significant rainfall.West Nipissing Fire Service Chief Richard Maranda says they want everyone to be safe and that’s why all burning is banned.
He adds if the fire department sees an open flame, there is a $400 fine for every emergency vehicle that shows up at the scene.
