Graduating students are being reminded to have a safe plan when celebrating the end of the year.
Ontario Provincial Police says they will be monitoring local areas for any pit and bush parties.Community Safety Officer Carolyn Ward says these parties should only take place in areas where fires are permitted.
She says even if there is a backyard party you will need to check the permit qualifications.
North Bay and many surrounding areas are currently under a fire ban. Ward says they ask students not to find a place in the middle of the bush and start a party.
Ward says they will be watching for mischief, violence and any potential injury risks.
She says strict enforcement will be given to underage drinking and trespassing as well.
Ward adds you should avoid any risks that will undermine all the hard work students put in over the year.
