The North Bay chamber of commerce wants to know if development charges are preventing more homes from being built in town.  That’s a question the chamber wants answered when it sits with the city and homebuilders association during the next round of development charges fee structuring.  President Derek Shogren says City Hall claims if there are no development charges then the cost of growth has to be paid for by taxpayers.  But Shogren says most northern communities don’t have development charges and some have lower tax rates than North Bay.  North Bay and Sudbury are the only two cities in the north with development charges.
