So far, the water in Papineau-Cameron Township seems safe. The North Bay – Parry Sound District Health Unit says water samples haven’t turned up any contaminants following a fuel oil spill in the Neault Road region. The health unit and Ministry of Environment are continuing to monitor the situation while the spill is cleaned up.
The ground was contaminated but investigators don’t know to what extent. The area lake isn’t showing any oil sheen, but if residents notice a fuel odor or sheen in their drinking water, call the health unit. The number is 474-1400, extension 2400.
