As Mining Week draws to a close in North Bay, the Progressive Conservative critic for northern development and mines, is recognizing the industry. Norm Miller, of Parry Sound-Muskoka, says with more than 40 active mines, Ontario is steeped deep in the mining tradition. In Ontario alone, the mining industry employs more than a quarter of a million people directly and indirectly.
Miller says with North Bay hosting Mining Week, this is a great way to celebrate the work these people do and mining’s economic contribution. Miller says decisions any government makes on mining has a profound effect on the province. He adds mining is and will continue to be part of Ontario’s future.
