A sod-turning ceremony will be held Thursday Aug 24th for a new church in Sturgeon Falls. The former Sacré-Coeur church was torn down in 2015 after concerns over the structure’s integrity and estimated elevated costs of repair. A new, smaller church is being built in its place. The new building will seat about 250 people. The church will be triangular to mimic the bow of a boat looking towards the future. The ceremony will take place at Noon on the grounds of the original church at 144 Main Street in Sturgeon Falls.
