It’s not something Sudbury and area residents who drive on Highway 69 want to hear. Work to four lane the remaining roadway between the Nickel City and Parry Sound could take up to 2021 to complete. Two years ago the province said the highway would be four-laned by 2017. However, Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca says the province has to do due diligence and consult with First Nations. Four-laning Highway 69 started in 2003 under the Tories and is expected to cost two billion dollars when all the work is done.
