28 Hour Standoff Ends Peacefully in Verner

It’s a peaceful end to a standoff between police and a man who barricaded himself in a home in Verner.  The 28-hour incident ended around 5 P-M Tuesday when a tactics and rescue unit from the OPP arrested one man. The man is facing charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, careless use of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm.
A second person in the home is also in custody. This person is being held for the Canada Border Service Agency. West Nipissing Chief Chuck Seguin is thanking the OPP for their help and also his people who were all able to work side by side on this matter.

The investigation continues.
