Mayor comments on Canada 150 celebrations and fireworks postponement

West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage says the weekend rain did not dampen the festive mood as the municipality celebrated Canada’s 150th birthday.   Savage says events were well attended at the Sturgeon River House Museum which also celebrated its 50th anniversary.   Savage adds it was the great work of municipal employees and volunteers that made July 1st successful and amazing.   Meanwhile Savage is also shedding some light on why the July 1st fireworks had to be postponed.  Savage says organizers weren’t able to access the location because it’s in an open field across from the Sturgeon Falls Public Beach.  However in talking to Fire Chief Richard Maranda, the plan is to re-schedule the fireworks show sooner than later.
