Isadore Day on World Water Day

Ontario’s Regional Chief is using Wednesday’s World Water Day as a time to point out there’s still lots to do to improve water conditions on reserves.  Isadore Day says when the federal Liberals took power, they promised to eliminate all boil water advisories within five years.  Day says to the end of last year, boil water advisories came off eight reserves in Ontario but 79 still have an advisory in place.  Day says First Nations have never given up their rights where water is involved.  However he points out that Aboriginal leaders were not consulted when new regulations were added to the Ontario Water Resources Act.
