Seat belts could be coming on school buses

In the not too distant future, students riding to and from school might be strapped in with seatbelts.  Transport Canada is considering legislation to make seatbelt use mandatory in school busses across the country.  That means at some point school buses in West Nipissing would all have to be outfitted with seatbelts.  Despite the consideration, the federal agency says school buses are very safe.  In fact in the last decade, of all the deaths involving school-aged children, only one percent of those deaths involved a school bus.  Transport Canada says children are 16 times more likely to get killed walking to school than dying from being on a school bus.
