Mayor says Au Chateau needs more money and employees

West Nipissing Mayor Joanne Savage says the municipality will keep lobbying the province for more money to increase staff and re-develop the Au Chateau senior`s home.  Savage says the nursing home has to be re-developed by 2025 according to terms laid out by the province.  She says the province continues to claim it`s paying the entire cost, but Savage says not so.  She says the municipal share is anywhere from $12 million to $14-million and it`s an amount that West Nipissing would share with Temagami.   Savage also says the facility could easily use 16 more employees in order to meet the threshold of four hours of care per resident.  Right now the seniors get just more than three hours of care.   The mayor says that threshold of four hours of care per resident has not been met for eight years.
