Flying ice from vehicle causes tractor trailer to crash

An incident where a tractor trailer had its windshield smashed by flying ice near Timmins has prompted an advisory from police.   The big rig was on Highway 101 Tuesday morning when ice came flying off the roof top of a passing vehicle, hit the windshield of the tractor trailer and broke it.  The impact caused the operator to lose control and he drove straight into a ditch where he sustained minor injuries.  South Porcupine OPP Constable Michelle Simard says it’s important when warming up your vehicle to clear it of snow and ice so that what happened to the transport driver is prevented.
