Fedeli fielding cap and trade complaints

No surprise here, northerners have started to complain about the cap and trade tax appearing at the gas pumps.  Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says his North Bay office has been getting calls and walk-ins about the sudden rise in gasoline last week.  The Ontario Liberals intend to use the tax on transportation and infrastructure.  Fedeli says in one sense this is true but the reality is they’re playing the shell game by trying to balance the budget without easing up on spending.  Fedeli says after budgeting for various transportation and infrastructure projects, the Liberals are reimbursing themselves with the cap and trade revenue and applying it to the budget in an effort to artificially reduce the deficit.

Meanwhile Fedeli says the jump at the gas pumps is just the beginning.  Next month people will notice that their natural gas and oil bills have also jumped because of cap and trade.  But Fedeli says the Wynne Liberals don’t want consumers to know that they’re behind higher oil and gas bills.   He says that’s why oil and gas companies are not allowed to list cap and trade as a separate item on the bill.   Fedeli says this is a sinister move by the Liberals who hope consumers blame the companies for their higher bills and not them.  It’s estimated that cap and trade will generate $2 billion in new taxes each year for the Liberals.
