North Bay police handle more than 30,000 service calls

Year-end figures show that the North Bay police handled 30,738 calls during 2016.  The very last call of the year came with just 29 minutes left in the year.  That last call was a 9-1-1 hang-up call which originated from Ferguson Street.  Police respond to all 9-1-1 calls but in this case police couldn’t locate the caller even though they sent a patrol car to the scene.  Police say if you accidentally call 9-1-1, don’t hang up.  Instead, stay on the line and tell the dispatcher you called the emergency number by accident.  If you hang up, the dispatcher will send an officer to the site because police don’t know if they have an emergency or not.
