A man and woman are charged with fraud in West Nipissing. Inspector Ray St. Pierre says the fraud involves an old technique of using cheques. He says the couple knowingly put falsified cheques into their bank account and then withdrew cash from the account once the phony cheques artificially increased the value of their account. And St. Pierre is telling the public to make sure your vehicles are locked. Over the past week or so, numerous vehicles have been robbed of wallets, cell phones, identification, cash and a passport. St. Pierre says the thefts have taken place in the King and Michaud area.
