Area hospitals hurting

It`s not just North Bay that is experiencing hospital woes.  Algoma Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha has evidence showing that the hospitals in Sault Ste. Marie and Blind River are overcrowded.  Mantha says the hospitals have been over capacity for at least two years.  He says the Liberals know this but instead of working to resolve the issue, they keep laying off health-care workers.

Mantha adds the documents also show many Ontario hospitals don`t have enough acute care beds which again creates an over capacity scenario.   Mantha and the NDP want a moratorium on nursing layoffs and to ensure hospital funding keeps up with inflation and population growth.
